06 Feb 2009 - Region Final Cancelled Due to the forecast high temperature on Saturday, 7th February, the Region Final has been cancelled. This means that the Men's Division 3 Team, who finished on top of the ladder, will be declared Region Premiers and go on to represent the Region at the Shield Final. 30 Jan 2009 - Round 12 Postponed Due to the forecast high temperature on Saturday, Round 12 has been postponed until Tuesday evening 3rd February. Competition will commence with the Hammer at 5:00pm and the Track at 6:00pm. 01 Dec 2008 - 2008-09 Handbook The 2008-09 Handbook is now available. 06 Nov 2008 - Results for first 3 rounds The following are the Ivanhoe Harriers results for the first 3 weeks of Summer competition. This season we have entered 3 teams only and they are; Men Open Division 3, Men’s Under 20 & Women Open Division 2. There have been some hiccups with the scoring and the reporting of the results, therefore many of the Men Under 20 results have not been allocated to M20 but to MOP3. I have sent emails to Michelle James at AV to ask about these problems. Because we have only a few competitors this year I have decided to report the weekly results ranking the performances for the day. I felt that this might provide a bit more interest as people would see what everyone else did and not just check their own results. Week 3’s results have not been worked out in terms of the place within your division. The number at the beginning of each result is the place you came in the Division you competed in. In Week 1 the younger men’s results were mostly allocated to M20, except for the 100m. In the subsequent weeks there was no M20 allocation. I will be following up on what is happening to M20 because to the best of my knowledge we haven’t received any communication as to why M20 results are going to MOP3. Oct 2008 - 2008-09 Summer Track and Field Season The first round of Shield Competition was on Saturday, 18 October 2008 at Nunawading. View the Annual Report. 29 Feb 2008 - Australian Championships Josh Philip competed in the Hammer Throw at the Australian Open Championships, and Olympic Trials, being held in Brisbane. He finished sixth (fifth Australian) with a throw of 54.97m. Well done. 23-24 Feb 2008 - Victorian Youth Championships Riding a well-timed gust of wind, Christine Rogers smashed her personal best in the Women’s Under 18 Long Jump and claimed the bronze medal, with a leap of 5.17m. At the end of round 3, she was in 8th position, just qualifying for an extra three jumps. She used them to good effect, pulling out her big jump in round 5. This mark is excess of the Club Record for Under 18 and Under 20 Women. A fantastic effort Christine. 8-10 Feb 2008 - Victorian Championships, Open & Under 20 These Championships saw a quinella for Ivanhoe in the Men’s Under 20 Pole Vault, in unusual circumstances. James Wendt and Todd Dawson both cleared 3.80m and 4.00m on their first attempts, and then missed three times at 4.20m, in difficult conditions when the rain, which had threatened all day, arrived. This meant that they were tied for first, so a jump-off was necessary to determine the winner. They both missed again at 4.20m, and the bar was lowered to 4.15m. Again, they were not successful. (Just one attempt is allowed at each height in a jump-off.) When the bar was lowered again to 4.10m, James cleared, and Todd missed, so James is the Victorian Champion, and Todd had to settle for the silver medal. 25 Nov 2007 - Celebration for John Boas Ivanhoe Harriers celebrated 50 years of service to the club by Dr.John Boas with a BBQ and presentation at their track at Willinda Park. John was a 400/800m runner in his younger days but made his mark on the sport in coaching. As well as his regular club coaching duties, John was a former National Jumps Coach.
